Program for eXperiential Learning (PXL)

Through small class sizes, Program for eXperiential Learning (PXL) aims to furnish students with unique project-based learning opportunities. By providing students with out--of--school experiences and exploration of topics in a deep and meaningful way, each student’s individualism, independence, creativity, and unique learning style can be celebrated. A realistic learning environment with increased opportunity for debates and discussions, cooperative learning groups, and projects that encourage students to work together is emulated. Students benefit from learning in an environment that allows them to explore topics in- depth and to understand their connection to other subjects. In addition, students are able to feel valued as individuals and can learn both independently and cooperatively to achieve their academic goals. The primary goal of PXL is to develop intellectual curiosity and independent thinking and risk--taking skills in a safe and supportive environment. PXL students are seeking a unique experience that encourages individual growth. This safe, supportive, and challenging learning community based on kindness, compassion, and innovation in learning highlights excellence in academics and meaningful work that challenges and inspires.  Unique features of the program include the Academy Office, cross--curricular lesson planning, frequent field trips, PXL social events, credit earning opportunities outside the traditional classroom, and alternative assessments.
