Dual Enrollment

Mountain Lakes High School is proud to introduce a dual enrollment option for students seeking college credit. The MLHS administration has created partnerships with Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) and Seton Hall University, and we are also working with the County College of Morris and the Middle College Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University to expand our offerings.

Through the SUPA program, qualified seniors and juniors have the opportunity to enroll in Syracuse University courses with the purpose of exposure to college-level work and the potential of earning three (3) college credits per course. Students may enroll in these courses at a reduced Syracuse University tuition rate (approximately $110 per credit). Courses are offered during the regular school day and are taught by MLHS teachers who have completed graduate seminars in their subject areas and been named adjunct instructors at Syracuse University.

The Dual Enrollment partnerships with the other institutions allow our students the potential to earn up to three (3) college credits. The participating colleges/universities have approved the curriculum, textbooks, and teachers, and students must meet their particular criteria in order to receive college credit. Those fees are also reduced, and we will be able to report them out in September. Students enrolled in these classes are given the opportunity to register for college credit and will have a deadline in early October. The program is not mandatory.  Please note that individual colleges and universities have specific guidelines dictating whether or not they will accept credits earned through a dual enrollment program. As students plan their academic programming, they should consult with their school counselors regarding the potential to apply college credits earned through dual enrollment to future educational institutions.

The classes we plan to run in the 2020-2021 school year are the following: American Sign Language 3 Honors, Forensic Science, Earth & Space Science, Environmental Sustainability, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Honors Data Structures, Film Studies, Public Speaking, and Entrepreneurship 3 Honors.  These classes have a book as an icon to identify them as the Dual Enrollment option.
